Chocolate Lab Opens At J House
Chocolate Lab and poolside cabanas are the latest amenities to open at the new J House Greenwich in Greenwich, Conn. The 86-room boutique hotel recently opened the Chocolate Lab, a chocolate shop and café located inside the hotel's lobby.
Executive Chef Francois Kwaku-Dongo, who worked at Wolfgang Puck's Spago in West Hollywood and Chicago, makes handmade truffles and chocolates at the new shop which joins the modern and sleek hotel's other food options: eleven14 Kitchen, which serves locally-sourced, seasonal new American cuisine in a space that brings the indoors outside with an open-air dining room and two bars, and J House Greenwich's private dining inside the temperature controlled, glass encased wine vault that contains over 2,000 bottles of wine.
The cocoa and coffee beans used at Chocolate Lab come from The Omanhene Cocoa Bean Company, which is a fair trade importer and chocolate manufacturer from Kwaku-Dongo's native Côte d'Ivoire. Pastry Chef Didier Berlioz creates Chocolate Lab's pastries. The small shop also serves gelato, coffee drinks, and sandwiches.
J House Greenwich has also opened its poolside cabanas, which include bottle service and poolside dining. The cabanas can be rented by the day or evening. J House Greenwich officially opens in September.
