Charleston Soda Company Wants Soda Suggestions
In a town known for sweet tea, one soda company is taking Charleston, S.C. by storm: the Cannonborough Beverage Co. is expanding its menu with crowd-sourced flavor suggestions.
Cannonborough Beverage Co. launched this spring under the wings of Mick Matricciano (who bartends at Belmont and FIG), Matt Fendley (who works at Moe's Southwest Grill), Brandon Wogamon (who works at Social Wine Bar). Looking for a side project to their impressive list of culinary and mixology experience, they began to make small batches to pour on draft at the local farmers market in Marion Square reports The Post and Courier. They're even served at Matricciano's place of work at Belmont.
Since then, the company has only grown — and it's not hard to see why. With flavors like strawberry-jalapeno, blueberry and thyme, and a ginger "beer" are perfect for summer days. Matricciano told the Post and Courier that they approached sodas like they would food and mixology.
The team is still looking for flavor suggestions on Twitter and Facebook, so Charleston citizens, speak up. So far, the team has reacted positively to a savory tomato basil soda and a peach and pink peppercorn soda, among others.
