Cara Delevingne & Kate Moss Get Friendly For Burberry's Newest Fragrance
While we're patiently counting down the days until the Burberry runway show, one of the highlights of London Fashion Week, the brand has just released the campaign images and video for its new fragrance, My Burberry. The shots, which feature British supermodels Cara Delevingne and Kate Moss, were first teased several months ago, but now the full campaign shows the two palling around on set dressed in their matching raincoats. Taking its name form "the affectionate way in which people refer to their Burberry trench coat," the fragrance is meant to be light and fun—an essence captured beautifully by the playful nature of the two women. Shot by Mario Testino, this black and white campaign marks the first time the two models have worked together—but you would never know it with all the giggles, hugs and secret-sharing done on set.
Meant to be a timeless fragrance, inspired by an English garden after a rain, My Burberry is a floral perfume intended to capture both the past and future of the brand. Designed by Burberry's Chief Creative and Chief Executive Officer Christopher Baily in conjunction with world-class perfumer Francis Kurkdjian, the fragrance consists of top notes of sweet pea and bergamot, with a heart of freesia, geranium and golden quince, and base notes of rain-tipped damask, patchouli and centifolia roses. "We have created a beautifully crafted grand floral unique to Burberry—the perfect accompaniment to the Burberry trench," Kurkdijan stated in a press release.
Named after such an iconic piece of the brand's identity, the perfume had to embody the trench coat in its quality and simplicity, and they channeled the outerwear in surprising ways. The golden-lined interior is imprinted with the Burberry check design, the gabardine waist tie in the trench is knotted at the neck of the bottle and even the horn-finished cap emulates the buttons of their coats. "My Burberry is the true embodiment of our brand, in scent, in design and in attitude. A fragrance that takes its lead from the iconic Burberry trench has to be outstanding in every way," Bailey explained.
In addition to one of the best modeling campaigns we've seen this season, My Burberry is also inspiring a ready-to-wear collection, accessories and a beauty line that will be released with today's launch. The makeup, which the ladies wore for the campaign, is also modeled after the trench and is meant to be an everyday beauty staple for all women and skin tones. The collection will consist of a fluid base, blush, eye palette, mascara, lipstick and nude polish.
My Burberry is available online at Burberry and priced from $60-$2,800.
