Foursquare Tips

  • The coffee is great, but the no laptop policy makes me grumpy.
  • The garden at Cafe Grumpy is one of my favorite places to read. It's small, cute, and very quiet, especially in the morning. However, it's currently 7:17am so I guess most of Manhattan is still quiet.
  • No laptops allowed! Grab an expertly made Latte and a Salt and Pepper Scone; you wont be disappointed. Staff is incredibly friendly.
  • Go to Grumpy and leave happy with a Clover brewed single origin coffee or synesso produced espresso
  • Stormy: "Inspiration will come when you least expect it. Sit by the window and write."
  • A great place to sit and have a quiet cup of coffee. Also reportedly the place Howard Schultz, CEO of Starbucks, discovered the Clover machine, which he eventually purchased and stopped selling.
  • This high-walled Chelsea backyard has a comforting stillness about it and belongs to a cafe with some of the best NYC coffee.
  • Watch people get smacked down when they pull out a laptop!
  • Joseph (stash and hat) is a really good guy and he makes a slammin cup o joe!
  • Fantastic latte and great indoor seating. There's a nice little back outdoor area as well.
  • Try out paying with Square card space. It's pretty damn cool.
  • Order an expertly crafted espresso drink or a Clover brewed "regular" coffee at this cozy, "no laptop" policy, Chelsea hangout. Some of the best coffee in all of NYC- try it!
  • Blueberry lavender pistachio coffee cake. Enough said.
  • Great coffee and cute space. Kinda like that they encourage people not to use their laptops (4 of 4 petals via Fondu)
  • Get an espresso at Grumpy Coffee - best in the city!
  • No WiFi and no laptops, but tasty americanos and juicy, sticky blueberry muffins. Lekker!
  • I have been coming here since this place opened and they still serve the best coffee around. Also, people who work here are sweet. Waiting for a pour-over is fun because you can watch the process.
  • cozy and hidden (kinda) cafe, smooth ice latte. Friendly staff too!
  • A place with lovely pour-overs and good espresso, but which is entirely inflexible about any drink modifications.
  • This mini-chain of cafes is a spot for both excellent coffee and baked goods.
