Bush's Baked Beans Take On The Food And Beverage's Idea Of Social Media Marketing With Facebook

In Ad Age's recent article, "Bush's Duke Now Selling Secret Bean Recipe on Facebook," it introduces Bush's new social media push to the public.

Well I guess it's true that if you aren't using social media for your food and beverage company, you really don't exist. Bush Brothers & Co. was looking to grow, especially now that it is officially grilling season, and found that Facebook was the perfect option for them.

Bush's has been using the same advertising message for years – Jay Bush, A.J. Bush's (company founder) great grandson, knows the secret bean recipe and has only confided in Duke, his golden retriever, who is constantly trying to sell the secret recipe ever since he told him. According to brand manager, Ken Oakley, 'fans love Duke', the golden retriever, so they decided to implement this message across all marketing platforms, now including social media.

Oakley also went on to say that the reason they emerged themselves into social media was because they wanted to 'engage' their fans. So, naturally, the best option was Facebook. Now Duke is taking offers on Facebook for the secret family recipe, which has raised their Facebook fan base to over 12,000.

Give your fans something to talk about that will spark their imagination and pique their curiosity. Challenge them. And in return they will converse with you and each other about your company and product. By doing so, it will get your message out there.

So will Duke ever spill the beans? Check out their Facebook page and find out!
