Foursquare Tips

  • I thought the portions would be bigger! German food should have big German portions!
  • For apps, the pretzel is an obvious choice (tread carefully with the mustard, it packs a punch), but the pierogies are a pleasantly delicious surprise if you're looking for another small plate.
  • Schnitzel and biscuit is amazing, paired with a Schneider Weisse
  • The atmosphere was incredible as was the beer list. I ordered the vegan plate which was fantastic and had a lot of variety. Of course the carnivore options looked excellent as well
  • The second project from Tim and Bronywn Wiechmann. The Union Square restaurant features German and Central European food, and the biergarten is always packed in pleasant weather. [Eater 38 Member]
  • Carefully executed German classics and an all-around great bar program from beer to cocktails. Love this place.
  • The warm. jelly filled donut and chocolate sauce is out of this world
  • They carry a great vegan appetizer (cabbage salad) and vegan entree for the vegetarians and vegans! Super friendly service too!
  • Tim Wiechmann's German restaurant is much more than a brats and beer haus (though do yourself a favor and order both when you go), and a great addition to Somerville's restaurant-heavy Union Square.
  • Start with the pretzel. Then get the haxe. Everything else is up to you but those two are required eating.
  • The giant pretzel and amazing German beer selection are not he missed. Also, the Wagyu beef sauerbraten is pretty darn good :-)
  • Even though the restaurant focuses on meat, there are a good number of vegetarian small plates. The beer soup is delicious.
  • You would be an absolute fool if you didn't get the Berliner.
  • Great beer list & awesome soft pretzels
  • Entrees were meh, but get a pretzel, use the mustard, get the potato salad, and pop back a beer. Great date right there.
  • Felt like back in Bavaria for a sec.
  • I loved the mulled wine and apple cider in the winter time. Hits the spot.
  • Great selection of German beer and German-style local craft beer. Soft pretzel, er "bretzel," appetizer is awesome. As is the spaetzel. Oh, and get the doughnuts for dessert. Yeah.
  • My friend & I did family style with a restaurant week special + the charcuterie plate. If you love an experiential charcuterie, get one here - it was delicious and the sauces were also fabulous.
  • Great selection of European beers and authentic, delicious if often heavy food.
