Brews for New Avenues – a local charity event, is back for their 3rd year on September 6th at a larger venue – The Leftbank Annex. As usual the beer lineup for this event, both rare beers on tap and even rarer bottles available for auction is outstanding and we have a sneak peak at some of them.

Brews for New Avenues is a signature event of the Ambassador Board of New Avenues for Youth. The Ambassador Board is a group of young professionals dedicated to raising awareness about New Avenues in the community, assisting in fundraising for the organization, and fostering the development of future community leaders. Here are the top-10 auction items currently in the Brews lineup:

1) Hair of the Dog – Dave (live)
2) Hill Farmstead (8+ bottles – live)
3) Crooked Stave (18 bottles, mostly Cellar Reserve Members only- live)
4) de Garde (multiple 3L bottles – silent and live)
5) Deschutes – The Abyss (2006-2013 full vertical – live)
6) Grote Dorst van 't Kasteel 2010 (live)
7) h.ertie Trippel 2013 (silent)
8) The Lost Abbey – Isabelle Proximus (silent)
9) AleSmith – signed Speedway Stout variant set (6 bottles – live)
10) New Glarus (15 bottles – silent)

There are a number of more possibly more special bottles on their way but as they have not been received yet organizers are loathe to reveal them.

Other than that, the format is generally the same as last year, but it is being held at the Leftbank Annex

VIP 2-5p (SOLD OUT); limited to 100 people, silent auction, rare kegs (Cantillon Iris will be on tap at 2 when we open), Cheeses from Cheese Bar and charcuterie from Olympic Provisions.

General Admission 5-10:30p; $10 gets you a mug, beer, and raffle ticket; additional beer tickets are $5; live auction (see above for some of them, but there should be 6-8 items total once we receive everything), bands, food carts; we will also be showing the Ducks vs. Michigan State game (the second half should start right around when GA starts). Also, for the first time this year, we will have a silent auction during the GA event. The silent items indicated in the list above will likely be at VIP only, but one thing I can tell you will be available during the GA silent auction is a full Firestone Walker Parabola vertical (2010-2014) and some Bruery Reserve Society stuff. We also have the Wall of Beer back this year and improved: $10 lets you select an item from the wall (numbered in paper bags) and you'll get a limited, vintage, and/or out of market craft beer to take home. Limited to 2/bottles/person/hour (we will be refreshing the wall about every hour) in order to allow as many people who don't normally trade for or cellar beer to get something as possible.
