This sweet little corner of science fun has been creating science wonder for the Sacramento area for over 60 years. That's quite an accomplishment by any standard. Their emphasis is on STEM, science, technology, engineering and math. While STEM may seem a bit nerdy, it's anything but here. The exhibits are colorful and understandable. Hands-on experiments for all, especially children, field trips, science summer camps and special events are all on the scale. Archaeology, robotics, a planetarium and science discovery weekends welcome all levels of interest.

The idea for this center germinated in 1979. In 1982, the doors opened and curious visitors began exploring the Science Center. The goal is "Stimulating scientific curiosity and excellence in a million minds" through hands-on exploration of science, in all of its many forms. From pre-Kindergarten through inquiring adult minds, the center offers age-appropriate explorations for all. Science winter and summer camps, community and school outreach programs, science birthday parties, lectures by experts, a place for the Davis Astronomy Club to meet and special presentations and exhibits, year round, will keep your curiosity and science needs fully engaged, no matter your age.

What was the medical standard during the Gold Rush? How did medicine evolve here in Sacramento? One of the easiest, and certainly the most interesting, ways to find out is to visit this unique museum, dedicated to the science of medicine. Operated by the Sierra Sacramento Medical Society, the museum and exhibits will show you how all things medical moved through the years, the weird along with the wonderful. Some of the tools just might make you glad things have evolved greatly over the years. If you've a mind to read while you're there, the library is simply extensive, filled with early medical journals and textbooks. Interesting hardly describes what is here.

Not only is this a wonderful collection of aircraft and aviation history, but it's a haven of aviation science. Hands on? How about trying your hand at flight in one of the flight simulators?
