Ask anyone where to get the best sandwich in DFW and Jimmy's will most likely be the answer. This Italian grocery shop has been a local favorite for items ranging from Italian food imports to house-made sausages. But stop in anytime during open hours and you'll find people lined up for Jimmy's famous sandwiches. There's everything from meatball or Italian sausage on toasted buns to subs loaded up with mortadella, capicola, sopressata, pepperoni, provolone, porketta and more. However, it's the Cuban sandwich with roast pork, ham, Swiss cheese, pickles and mojo sauce that most people want to sink their teeth into. And they don't mind waiting 15 minutes or more for it to be made. No worries if you're in a hurry, just call in your order before you come.

The buzz surrounding this Vietnamese restaurant hasn't ceased since Good 2 Go Taco gals Colleen O'Hare and Jeana Johnston opened it last year. The dinner menu is filled with exciting delicacies ranging from fried frog legs with dill to roasted rack of boar. However, it's at lunch where you'll find the best banh mi sandwiches in town. These mind-blowing sandwiches start off with a crispy baguette that's been slathered with a zesty mayo sauce. Then it's loaded up with your choice of proteins, including char-grilled pork belly, slow roasted pork, barbecued chicken, grilled beef or tofu. There's also either an egg omelet or liver pate that goes in it as well. Lastly, it's topped off with fresh pickled cucumbers and carrots, purple basil and sprigs of cilantro.

Cane Rosso
815 W. Magnolia Ave.
Fort Worth, TX 76104
(817) 922-9222
www.ilcanerosso.com Pizza maestro Jay Jerrier's certified Neapolitan pizzas are certainly what makes this place pulse, but Cane Rosso offers epic sandwiches on the menu as well. Instead of bread, these sandwiches are made using pizza dough and fired up in the wood-burning pizza oven. The Cuban and meatball sandwiches here are especially delicious, but if you come during weekend brunch, you might be lucky enough to find the Mother Clucker on the menu. This sandwich isn't made with the pizza dough, instead it's a tantalizing concoction of succulent Sriracha and buttermilk fried chicken in a bacon marmalade ricotta biscuit. It's served with a drizzle of habanero honey on top and candied habanero honey butter on the side. Be prepared to come hungry because the portions here are huge.
