Ben & Jerry's Modernizes The Ice Cream Truck

With gourmet food trucks taking over the streets of cities nationwide, the classic ice cream truck seemed doomed to the shadows of outdated street food trends. But this season, Ben & Jerry's is bringing the summer standby back with the return of their bicoastal Scoop Truck Tour.

The tour began in May with two trucks starting in Miami and Los Angeles, and it extends through August when the East Coast truck finishes making its last rounds in Boston. Best part about the tour? Well, there are two. First, the trucks are stocked with some of the company's newest flavors alongside classic favorites, which will be served at a premium rate of "on the house." That's right, all the ice cream is free! Think of it as a sort of customer appreciation day that lasts all summer long.

As if that weren't great enough, Ben & Jerry's wants to let you get behind the wheel of the truck (at least metaphorically) asking fans to tweet at the hashtag #OMGFreeBenJerrys with the exact locations (within the given city of course) of where they would like the truck to stop. Since mid-June, the trucks have been stationed in San Francisco and New York City, but they'll only be there through July. Just today, the Twitter page has been receiving requests from business offices, teachers, and heat-stricken city-goers asking the truck to make a stop at a street by them.

If you're in either city, make sure to send your tweets in now and go get yourself a free scoop!
