Making loud, contented slurping sounds over a hot bowl of noodles is one of life's greatest pleasures. So is dining outdoors under the warm sun while sipping a glass of cool lemonade. But the prospect of combining the two is about as welcome an idea as putting on a cardigan in the middle of July.

But the two don’t need to be mutually exclusive anymore, because we've come up with seven great chilled noodle recipes for you to try at home. It's not an entirely new idea, we admit — in Japan, Korea, and Vietnam, for example, there is a long tradition of beating the sweltering heat with a bowl of refreshing noodles, whether in the form of Japanese soba, Korean bibim guksu, or Vietnamese bun.
