3-Day Back To School Sales Tax Holiday Starts
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) — Florida's back-to-school sales tax holiday is kicking off.
Starting Friday shoppers do not have to pay sales and local sales taxes on clothing worth $100 or less. Sales taxes are also waived for school supplies worth $15 or less.
Shoppers also do not have to pay the state's 6 percent sales tax on the first $750 of any computer purchase. The exemption also applies to computer accessories.
The sales tax holiday ends on Sunday at midnight.
This year the amount of clothing exempt from taxes has gone up from $75 to $100. The other major change is that the sales tax break is applied to computer purchases worth than $750. This means that it will apply to Apple laptops this year.
