12 Coffee Mate Creamer Flavors, Ranked Worst To First

Many of us simply cannot live without our favorite flavor of coffee creamer. Or at least we seriously don't want to. It's likely that your fav, or one of them, is from Coffee mate's lineup. According to a poll cited by Nestlé, three out of four customers say that Coffee mate is still their preferred creamer when they are away from home, with 81 percent claiming that they are more likely to consider purchasing coffee at a cafeteria if they have Coffee mate products. This brand has something for everyone: those with gluten allergies, diabetics, and vegans.

But what we love the most about Coffee mate is that the brand always keeps things exciting by constantly introducing new flavors. Its website shows about 40 varieties of coffee creamer that come in liquid or powder form. But not all of them have become staples in our homes. Some are definitely better, while others are complete fails. Here are some of the standout ones, for better or worse, ranked.

12. Eggnog Latte

This one should kind of go without saying. Eggnog isn't everyone's favorite to begin with. The Coffee mate version is no exception. It's awful. This creamer was released as a part of the company's 2015 seasonal holiday lineup along with Gingerbread, Peppermint Mocha, and Pumpkin Spice. Many customers said they had trouble finding the flavor at all after it was introduced.

Once they could finally track this flavor down, it seems as though some were disappointed. Numerous customers on Facebook reported that they don't care for the flavor. If you've ever had a bad cup of eggnog, this coffee creamer tastes like that but three times more overpowering. The latte part is just lost, since you're pouring this into coffee. Its taste comes off as extremely artificial and leaves a terrible aftertaste in your mouth. It seems as though people found better use for it in recipes like eggnog marshmallows or whisked into eggs for French toast, as one customer mentioned on one of the company's Facebook posts.

Coffee mate gave its eggnog creamer a second chance in 2021. In November of that year, the company posted a Tweet allowing customers to pick which seasonal flavor they wanted to bring back in 2022. Other choices were Butter Toffee, Amaretto, Marshmallow Hot Cocoa, Red Velvet, Gingerbread, Spiced Latte, Spiced Rum Cake, Espresso Chocolate, and Butter Pecan, with the company announcing it was giving its gingerbread flavor a second chance at life — and hopefully leaving Eggnog Latte in the past.

11. Pop-Tarts Toasted Brown Sugar Cinnamon

Toasted Brown Sugar Cinnamon Pop-Tarts are some of the best — if not the best — offerings of the pastry pockets. It was voted as the brand's top flavor on The Top Tens site. Unfortunately, the same can't be said about Coffee mate's creamer version of it, which debuted in January 2023. You would think that this wouldn't be the case when you're combining two extremely popular breakfast items. On paper, it sounds like a match made in heaven. But in your mouth, not so much.

The flavor received a 2.4 rating on Coffee mate's website. Many customers complained that the new flavor had no smell and tasted like, well, nothing. "This truly has no flavor. No hints of brown sugar. Pretty much just adding water and oil to your coffee. Save the money and buy some half and half for a dollar," one customer wrote on the site.

Many people who love Brown Sugar Cinnamon Pop-Tarts and ran out to buy this creamer seem to have been pretty disappointed. The creamer definitely didn't do as well as Coffee mate's other breakfast pairing, the Cinnamon Toast Crunch creamer, which has a 4.8 rating on its site. It's probably a good thing that this Pop-Tarts collaboration flavor is only a limited-time offering.

10. Glazed Donut

Coffee and deliciously glazed doughnut ... how could you go wrong? Well, Coffee mate did with its Glazed Donut creamer. The beloved sweet treat the creamer is based on has an iconic and unmistakable taste. So if you don't nail it completely, people are bound to be disappointed. And that's exactly what happened here.

Coffee mate Glazed Donut creamer was announced at the end of 2020 with an early 2021 release in the smaller 16-ounce bottle. The perfectly frosted doughnuts on its packaging induced thoughts of drinking liquid sugar-coated fried dough rings, making customers eager to try it. But that's not the flavor customers say they experienced. Many called the creamer very thin and said it tastes like "burnt water," "wax," or worse. "Tastes horrible," one customer wrote on the Walmart page for the product. "Nothing like a donut. maybe like moldy expired package donuts someone sat on in their couch cushion for a million years and farted all over. yuck." Yeah, the reviews are pretty harsh.

Walmart customers gave it a total of 3.7 out of 5. The flavor isn't on Coffee mate's site and doesn't come up in a Google shopping search, so it's likely that the flavor is discontinued.

9. M&M's Milk Chocolate Liquid Coffee Creamer

Who doesn't want candy for breakfast? Apparently, a lot of Coffee mate customers — the brand's M&M's Milk Chocolate-flavored creamer was a flop. The collaboration between Nestlé and Mars was announced around October 2020 with a scheduled release date of January 2021. The company didn't hold back with a small bottle to test the waters. It instead offered this new flavor in a 32-ounce container.

"This M&Ms flavored creamer is the perfect way to wake up your coffee," Coffee mate described it. But customers were very disappointed to find that the creamer lacked any hint of the M&M's classic shell coating, leaving the creamer to only taste like the candy's middle — a rather basic chocolate flavor. "To me this doesn't taste one bit like M&M's. It just tastes like chocolate milk was added. FALSE ADVERTISING. I will never buy this again," one unhappy customer wrote on Influenster. Another customer on Influenster said it had a "powdery flavor" that was reminiscent of Nesquik. The flavor is no longer posted on Coffee mate's website and seems to have been discontinued.

8. Caramel Latte Powder

In addition to Coffee mate's popular liquid creamers, they also sell about 11 powder options, which pack about 210 ½ tsp. servings in every 15 oz. bottle. Most of them have at least a 4-star rating on the brand's website — except for the Caramel Latte.

This flavor has only a 2.9 rating, with more than half of the 56 reviews giving the powder creamer one or two stars. According to a Coffee mate brand ambassador, this flavor used to go under the name Caramel Macchiato. Customers in the comments sections seem to have all preferred the original, and some have said that the recipe changed with the name.

One brand ambassador claims that the recipe stayed the same, however, in another post told a customer, "Sorry to hear you're not a fan of our recipe and name change." So something seemed to have changed about this flavor, and fans were not happy about it, saying it wasn't as "smooth" or "flavorful." Another called it "gross," while others vowed to never purchase a Coffee mate product again.

7. Oatmeal & Crème Cookie

The new Oatmeal Crème Pie Coffee mate flavor — since renamed to Oatmeal & Crème Cookie — was introduced alongside the Glazed Donut, shortly after the M&M Milk Chocolate flavor. It's supposed to taste like one of those Little Debbie snack cakes that have been around since 1960, though the coffee creamer company didn't officially partner with the snack food company for this concoction.

Having your coffee taste like a snack cake seems like a good idea in theory. So did this fare better than the doughnut-flavored creamer? The results are mixed. On Influenser, many customers enjoyed the creamer, praising the flavor for including a strong hint of cinnamon without being too overpowering. One customer said it tastes "like having an oatmeal cream pie in a mug." Another review, this time from Mag's Taste Test, found the creamer lacking "I didn't get any identity from this creamer in my coffee," the reviewer wrote. They went on to say that the creamer reduced the bitterness of their blend without adding much else. So if you're just looking for an unusual coffee creamer that's going to sweeten your coffee without dramatically altering its flavor, maybe this is worth a shot.

6. Pumpkin Spice

When this creamer first emerged on the scene, many of us had it stocked all season long. But when other companies started making their own versions of pumpkin spice-flavored creamer, we realized this isn't the best one on the market.

Coffee mate's version was completely omitted from My Recipes' list of top pumpkin spice creamers. The problem with this seasonal flavor is that it's very sugary and serves up a very artificial pumpkin taste. But all it needs is a touch of half and half or milk and you're good to go. It also comes in a sugar-free version, which cuts down on that sweetness. It also works really well in recipes. There are a bunch of them on the company's website.

Coffee mate's Pumpkin Spice creamer has a 4.6 rating on Influencer, where most reviewers totally love it. "My favorite seasonal coffee creamer ever," wrote one enthusiastic customer. "I found my first bottle the middle of august this year and have stayed stocked up since! Pair it with white chocolate syrup and caramel drizzle... YUM!"

5. Caramel & Coconut Girl Scout Cookie

It sounded almost too good to be true. A drinkable version of Girl Scout Cookies and the ability to have some first thing in the morning without having to feel guilty. Coffee mate's samoa-inspired creamer, thankfully, is as good as it sounds.

The company's Caramel and Coconut Girl Scout Cookie creamer was introduced in 2013 alongside a Thin Mints flavor. While it isn't currently on the company's website, we've seen this in and out of the grocery store every so often. Bloggers raved about this one. "It is THAT good," Cori's Cozy Corner wrote.

While it didn't exactly have the crunch of an actual samoa, the authentic toasted coconut and caramel flavors were prevalent and balanced without being overly sweet. Some customers even said that they preferred this one over the Thin Mints one. "It is wonderful," In the Mood for Something New writes. "The flavor is very subtle, with a slight hint of toasted coconut, the caramel flavor more obvious, yet still not overpowering. It reminds me very much of Starbucks' Chestnut Praline Latte." The only complaint some customers had was that they wished it came in a sugar-free version.

4. Cinnamon Vanilla Crème

Coffee mate has 10 different types of vanilla-flavored products. If you're a fan of one of the more plain ones, like the company's French vanilla and vanilla bean flavors, then you'll likely love this one too. If you enjoy cinnamon. This flavor offers the perfect way to spice up your morning a bit. Posts about it go all the way back to 2010. So it's been around for a while and is still on the company's page. If it was kept in the lineup for this long, then it must be a hit with customers.

Cinnamon Vanilla Crème Coffee mate is perfectly creamy with a swath of cinnamon that doesn't overpower. It has a 4.4 rating on the company's website and a 4.5-star rating on Influenster. While some customers said they thought the cinnamon flavor was overwhelming, tasting like cinnamon gum or a shot of fireball, many love the taste. One customer on the site compared it to a "churro with less sugar," and another said they add it to their hot chocolate. A third wrote, "So many people have walked by my office after I made my morning cup of coffee and exclaimed 'What's that delicious smell?!' I LOVE the taste of this creamer and if they ever discontinue it, I'd start a riot!" If a creamer is good enough to inspire riotous passion in its fans, it's good enough for us.

3. Coconut Crème

Coconut Crème is one of Coffee mate's triple-churned creamers that are touted as having double the richness of milk. That's why this flavor is ultra-creamy with a "tropical" touch that offers indulgence in every sip. The earliest post we can find about it on the company's Facebook page goes back to 2019. Since then, customers have consistently given this one high ratings. It has a solid 4.8 rating on Nestlé's site and Influenster.

Customers reported that they sometimes have to hunt it down, going to multiple stores to track it down and stocking up when they finally come across it. "I have driven miles and miles in search of this flavor. I would buy every bottle if I could find it but it's been out of stock EVERYWHERE!! I've went to over 20 Walmart's and all targets and can't find it anywhere!" one reported on the company's website. The creamer has almost a cult following. "This is creamer is so deliciously addictive," one customer wrote on the site. "This coconut creamer is light, sweet and so tropical. It compliments my black coffee perfectly. It makes my iced lattes perfect. It's definitely a must-try!" This one also has a sugar-free version, so if you like the taste of coconut and you want a really rich creamer, maybe join the search and see if you can't track a bottle down.

2. Peppermint Mocha

Forget spending $5 on a coffee at that overpriced coffee chain. You can buy a whole bottle of Peppermint Mocha Coffee mate for less than that and enjoy multiple cups of world-class specialty coffee. It's the company's most popular seasonal flavor and is great for infusing some of that holiday spirit into your morning routine. But we'd like to carry that feeling with us all year long, so we're glad that we see this creamer in stores in the off-season.

Its smooth chocolatey flavor is spiked with the perfect amount of peppermint that doesn't give off a fake flavor or overabundance of sweetener. This makes it perfect for incorporating into recipes, which you can find on the Coffee mate's website.

It's got a 4.6 rating on Coffee mate's website and a 4.8 on Influenster. "I have been using Coffee Mate Peppermint Mocha coffee creamer everyday in my coffee and sometimes hot chocolate for many years now," one customer raved on the Coffee mate site. "I don't use any other. We even take a container with us when we out to eat, knowing that we will be having coffee." Others have enthusiastically recommended the creamer, as well as its limited-edition sugar-free sibling, with some even preferring a coffee enriched by Coffee mate to a barista-prepared peppermint mocha latte.

1. Italian Sweet Crème

Italian Sweet Crème is known as one of Coffee mate's "comfort classics" along with its French vanilla and original flavors. These are the go-to flavors for when you want a simple good cup of coffee with a no-frills taste. People were very upset when this one had to be pulled from the market temporarily due to shortages and supply chain issues in 2020, which persisted into 2022. The company had to take to Twitter to reassure customers that it wasn't permanently discontinued.

Several companies jumped on the Italian Sweet Crème bandwagon, with Shop Rite's Bowl & Basket and Lucerne offering their own versions. Coffee mate's version literally tastes like you're eating a cannoli with your coffee. For those who aren't into early-morning pastries, there's a sugar-free version.

It has a 4.7 rating on Influenster with a whopping 82% of reviews giving it five stars. "My standby coffee creamer!" happy customer Karen S. said. "It's light, delicately sweet, and is perfect in any flavor coffee. It leaves behind no artificial aftertaste. I even got my mother-in-law hooked on this flavor. We both love it!" If you want a classic, vanilla flavor with a little extra texture, this is the Coffee mate creamer for you.
