Where Is Long Table From Shark Tank Today

Everyone loves pancakes and the homemade dish is a great meal any time of the day. Waffles, like pancakes, are easy to make, can please a crowd, and be customized with add-ins. Now, these breakfast favorites can even be altered for those with dairy restrictions and allergies.

Classic pancake recipes are easy to throw together with pantry staples, but the vast majority of Americans start with a pre-packaged mix, per Statista. These mixes further simplify the process by eliminating most measures. That's especially helpful for a still bleary-eyed early morning blend. Most just have you add eggs, fat, and some liquid.

The pancake mix market has grown by a substantial amount since 2017 (per PR Newswire). In addition to the major producers, like General Mills and Bob's Red Mill, there are many small options that cater to customers who want a specific attribute for the mix they use. These might be gluten-free, keto, high protein, or vegetarian. If you can name it, there's probably a mix for it.

Long Table's Pan Cake & Waffle Mix enters the tank

You can watch Long Table's lively, star-studded, pitch on Business Strategist, Joe Pardo's YouTube channel. Samuel Tayor started Long Table after finding a way to achieve his goal of a light, nutrient-rich Pan Cake & Waffle Mix. What began as a passion project for his wife, turned into a side hustle creating about $20,000 in annual sales, but the pandemic turned this into the couple's main hustle. They appeared on "Shark Tank" looking for funding to grow a burgeoning pancake and waffle mix company.

After some acrobatics, Taylor introduces his products to the panel. The pancakes receive universal praise from Mark Cuban, Barbara Corcoran, Kevin O'Leary, Lori Greiner, and Gwyneth Paltrow. Taylor uses his friend, David Schwimmer, to make a waffle delivery to the panel. He also delivers a great line pointing out that this reunion of the 1996 movie "The Pallbearer" co-stars has one of them being "a wildly successful entrepreneur" who hosts a podcast about her company, Goop, while he's pushing a waffle cart.

That interaction overshadows what follows, which is a pretty quick succession of "I'm out" from each shark. In spite of loving the product, the lack of sales, the relative newness of the company, the poor social media presence, and the business seeming to be more mission-driven than product-driven were enough to send Taylor home without a deal.

Where is Long Table today?

According to Long Table's website, they don't seem to be in more stores, but the markets that carry the mixes have expanded beyond Chicagoland. There are markets in Pennsylvania, New York, and Michigan where you can find a bag of Long Table mix. For the rest of us, Long Table's online store will have to suffice. They offer their four varieties of Pan Cake & Waffle Mixes, Popcorn, Blue Corn, Gluten Free, and Single-Source Rye, in a few options, including an "As Seen on Shark Tank Bundle" for $45. As of now, those are only available as a preorder that's estimated to ship in mid-March. The website states, "Shark Tank viewers blew up our spot! 20,000 orders and counting. Order now, before pre-orders run out!"

It's probably too early to tell how Long Table's dip into the "Shark Tank” will pan out. In the meantime, there seems to be a precedent for using crushed popcorn in pancakes, like this one from Ready Set Eat. Also, there's a company in Australia making its own popcorn flour. Presumably, you could use King Valley Popcorn's popcorn flour however you'd like. How about some popcorn flour-dredged fried chicken with your Long Table popcorn flour waffle?
