What It Means When You See A 'Woohoo!' Sticker At Kroger

Some things simply make you want to say, "woohoo!" While a last-minute touchdown by your favorite team or an unexpected raise is sure to elicit this response, something small like a great deal on grocery items can too, especially considering the mind-blowing price of food these days.

Sure, there are tried-and-true methods for cutting your supermarket bill. The most obvious of grocery shopping tips is to never shop when you're hungry or you'll find yourself heaving everything from lentils to headcheese into your cart. Another widely touted guideline is to avoid buying fresh produce when it's out of season. Shahzadi Devji, host of "The Morrocco Real Food Adventure," told Global News to buy fruits and vegetables in season in bulk and freeze them for later consumption. Loss leaders are another great find, but Clark.com has one stark warning regarding these deals. These products are sold at rock-bottom prices to entice you into the store "in the hopes you'll buy other things at full price." Don't fall for it.

All of these great ways to save money on groceries are likely to lead to positive feelings that may cause a heartfelt "woohoo," but there's an even more surefire way to put this exclamation on the tip of your tongue. Look for a Kroger sales sticker that actually says, "woohoo!"

Woohoo stickers represent savings. Woohoo!

While a "Woohoo!" sticker sounds like the next best thing to sunshine and lollipops, what exactly is it? Food52 reveals that these magical little stickers indicate that a Kroger grocery item is being offered at a reduced price, oftentimes quite reduced. (Seriously. Did you see that picture? Deodorant for 49 cents.) These tags usually reside on items that are approaching their best-before dates, but some are simply discontinued. Others are nearing the end of their season and must be cleared out. After all, there's nothing worse than being stuck with a stack of jack-o-lantern pumpkins when Christmas rolls around.

How do you spot one of these reduced stickers? Most official "Woohoo!" tags are yellow and bare the actual words "woo" and "hoo," but depending on what Kroger store or Kroger supermarket chain affiliate you're visiting, there are variations. The Krazy Coupon Lady offers that these tags come in yellow or red and some don't say "Woohoo" at all. The discount, however, will still likely make you emit that response.

Odds are that you won't want to waste any time finding these great deals. After all, the last thing you want is for them to sell out before you can get your fill. So where do the products bearing these stickers tend to hang out?

Reduced items often have designated locations

While The Krazy Coupon Lady says the best places to find these sale items are by the stockroom entrance, on end-caps, and in "carts located in the middle of aisles," they sometimes lurk in less obvious spots.

This is why Money Saving Mom recommends turning your next shopping excursion into a "treasure hunt" by recruiting the kids. Yes, the secret is out. One of the things you didn't know about Kroger is that it can keep your children entertained for hours. And, pretty soon your eyes will become attuned to spotting "Woohoo!" stickers and you'll find deals everywhere. This thrifty mother hits the produce section first, followed by the bakery aisle (paying close attention to the Reduced Bread shelf), the meat section, and dairy, ensuring that she covers the basics. If time permits, you can then explore the aisles, paying close attention to the aforementioned sales-filled carts and end-caps stocked with bargains. And always keep your eyes peeled for a "Manager's Special" sign as this can indicate a bevy of great deals.

You are now equipped to save oodles of moolah and combat rising food prices on your next Kroger excursion. Can you say, "Woohoo?"
