Can You Cook A Hamburger In An Air Fryer?

Ahh hamburgers. Millions all over the world, especially in the U.S., enjoy them throughout the year. In a Readers Digest list of America's favorite foods, cheeseburgers ranked #2, and as of 2022, there were more than 84,000 burger restaurants in the U.S. Plus, the average American eats roughly 60 hamburgers every year, according to SWNS digital. That's more than one per week.

But hamburgers aren't just a food favorite because they taste good; they also offer a lot of flexibility with how you can cook them. You can fire up a burger on the grill for that delicious char-grilled flavor, or keep the cooking indoors. You can pan-fry them on the stove, broil them, steam them, or bake them. But can you air fry them? You sure can!

The Chicago Tribune reports that air fryers have become a cooking game changer over the last couple decades, so it makes sense to wonder about all the food you can cook in them. If you've owned one for long, you've probably cooked a lot of different foods in it, but if a hamburger isn't one of them, it's time to give it a try.

Air frying can create crispy and juicy burgers

One of the great benefits of air fryers is how fast they cook food. Plus, they're pretty easy to use. You can cook a burger in an air fryer in under 10 minutes (per Delish). Follow your usual burger recipe to form the patties. Once seasoned, place two patties in the air fryer. If you have a large air fryer, you might be able to fit more, but don't overcrowd it. For medium-cooked burgers, set the temperature to 375 degrees for four minutes per side. Cook for longer if you want them well done. After the four minutes are up, flip the burgers with a spatula to cook the other side.

When the burgers are done cooking, remove them from the air fryer. They should be juicy on the inside and crispy on the outside. Add your favorite condiments and toppings, and you're done! Side note, if you'll be making cheeseburgers, it's best to throw the cheese on the burgers as soon as you remove them from the fryer for that yummy melted cheese taste.

Easy cooking. Easy cleanup. Delicious burger.
