The 10 Recipes That Are Perfect to Make with Your Kids

Get your kids in the kitchen — it sounds like a bad idea, but with a little guidance, you and your little ones will be making delicious and hearty meals together in no time. You might be nervous to have your children around a bunch of knives, and they may slow down your cooking process, but it will be well worth it to have them in the kitchen.

We're not telling you to make roast chicken with them, but truffles, fruit salads, and macaroni and cheese are among the recipes that are perfect for you and your kids to dive into together. Cooking with your kids is a great way to bond, so that's why we made it the theme for this week's SWAT (Sharing With A Theme).

Beautiful and Light Healthy Fruit Salad

This is a delicious fruit salad drizzled with a light honey-orange sauce, which makes it completely irresistible, so much so that it tastes like dessert. So simple to make, and you can use any fruits you'd like: apples, pears, berries, grapes, and melons, to name a few. You kids can wash the fruit for you and drizzle the dressing on top when you're ready. It's a great way to show them the importance of fruits and vegetables.

Vegan Peanut Butter Chocolate Chunk Cookies

Some parents get a little nervous when baking with their kids in the kitchen because there are so many ingredients and measurements to keep track of. So many white powders — what if your kids confuse the salt for sugar? Uh-oh. Here's a simple peanut butter chocolate chunk cookie that tastes delicious and only has five simple ingredients.

Whole-Wheat Pumpkin Muffins with Chocolate Chips

Whole-wheat pumpkin muffins are always a hit, especially when dotted with mini chocolate chips. They taste indulgent even though they're packed with plenty of healthy ingredients. Have your kids help mix the ingredients together — they can also lick the bowl clean while the muffins are cooking in the oven.

Chocolate Torta

A decadent chocolate cake is the perfect dessert to have your kids make in the kitchen. After you've measured all of the wet and dry ingredients, ask them to mix the batter, butter the pan, and place it in the oven. They'll feel like they've done most of the work.

Smoked Pulled Pork Wontons

What could be better than pork shoulder, perfectly smoked, finely pulled, juicy and tender? Use the leftovers to make these smoked pulled pork wontons. You can sit your kids at the table and have them fill the wontons — and give them a few to wrap themselves, although keep in mind that those may not come out looking too pretty.

One-Pot Macaroni and Cheese

Macaroni and cheese out of the box is convenient, but when you make it yourself, you will have a much better-quality version. The best part? You can have your kids grate the cheese — which we never really want to do ourselves.
