Celebrate watermelons and more this Labor Day!

Labor Day means a lot of things to a lot of different people. For students, it means the end of summer break and heading back to school. For adults, it means a long weekend to travel. But for almost all of us, Labor Day is the perfect excuse to throw an awesome party.

Unfortunately, the end of summer also means the end of a lot of fresh summer fruits and vegetables. As the weather gets colder, we say goodbye to peaches, avocados, and sweet bell peppers, which are ripest during the months of June, July, and August. But don’t despair! You can give all your favorite fruits and vegetables the proper send off this Labor Day with these delicious party recipes.

Greek Style Vegetable Kebabs

These are perfect for grilling and include some of our favorite summer vegetables, like bell peppers, eggplants, and zucchini. Lay them over a bed of orzo or serve them by the stick.

Caprese Salad

A caprese salad is a standard party recipe, but it’s even better in summer when tomatoes are at their juiciest and basil at its freshest. You can even add a twist by using some sweet summer melons, like cantaloupe.
