That Crazy Rainbow Bagel Store in Brooklyn Has Closed 'Indefinitely'

Remember when your Instagram feed was filled with bizarrely rainbow-hued bagels? The Bagel Store in Brooklyn, best known for its bagels that looked more like tie-dye than breakfast, has shut down "indefinitely." The Williamsburg location of the shop first stated that it would be closing temporarily for renovations, but a social media post on the shop's now-defunct Facebook page said that due to its inability to keep up with crushing demand, the Bagel Store's owners had to close. Luckily, the Bagel Store's Graham Avenue location is still open for business and the Williamsburg store will likely reopen soon, so that "indefinitely" announcement is a bit of an exaggeration. For now, we'll have to be content with plain-old golden bagels with shmear.

More Than One-Third of Starbucks Drinks Contain as Much Sugar as a Can of Coca-Cola, Study Says

Unless your morning Starbucks order is a black coffee with very little added sweetener, your daily coffee is probably more of a sugar overdose than a caffeine fix. Caramel mocha lattes may sound tempting and delicious, but according to a recent study from U.K. campaign group Action on Sugar, 35 percent of hot drinks at coffee chains in the U.K. contain more than nine teaspoons of sugar — or about the same amount as a can of Coca-Cola. Flavored drinks at Starbucks and other similar coffee shops can contain up to 20 teaspoons of sugar. Starbucks has committed to reducing the percentage of "indulgent drinks" by 25 percent by 2020, and has insisted that drinks with high sugar content are meant to be "an occasional treat" as opposed to an everyday habit.

$94,000 Bid for McDonald's Secret Sauce Was a Hoax

A bid of $94,000 for a bottle of McDonald's Big Mac sauce in a charity auction benefitting Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) was indeed too good to be true. There were more than 40 bids for totals exceeding $72,000 and the company is in the process of contacting runner-up bids to see if any of the offers are sincere. The winner of the auction will receive a bottle of Big Mac sauce in a special collector's box with a voucher for a free burger.
