What To Expect From The Chew, With Mario Batali

ABC's new food talk show, The Chew, debuts next week with Mario Batali and chef Michael Symon, among others. There won't be any pregnancy scares, love affairs, or prostitution (sorry All My Children fans), but Batali tells Bon Appétit that there will be plenty of food talk.

In the first half, called "The Daily Chew," Batali and Symon will cook and talk about food news.

Dr. Oz's daughter, Daphne Oz, will discuss healthy eating (with corresponding healthy recipes).

Her cannoli? "She makes it with ground flaxseeds, coconut something," Batali said. "And it comes out not really good at all, but it's an interesting take."

Symon will also cook a dish with "five ingredients or less, in five minutes or less, for five dollars or less."

Show representatives say each co-host (including Top Chef's Carla Hall and Clinton Kelly from What Not to Wear) will lead different segments every day.

For aching soap fans (and everyone else, for that matter), ABC has teemed up with local food trucks to dish out free food from Sept. 24 to 25 in New York City, Los Angeles, Chicago, Philadelphia, and Atlanta. Each truck is serving up selections of their own dishes, while supplies last.
