In honor of two great drinking holidays — Cinco de Mayo and the Kentucky Derby — falling on the same day this year, we offer this mashup cocktail combining Cinco's popular spirit with the Derby's iconic drink

INGREDIENTS

  • 10-12 cilantro leaves (plus extra sprigs for garnish)
  • 1 teaspoon agave nectar
  • 1 ounce lemon juice
  • 2 1/2 ounces tequila
  • Crushed ice

DIRECTIONS

In a cocktail glass, muddle the cilantro, agave nectar, and lemon juice. Add about half of the tequila and some crushed ice, then stir to mix. Add the rest of the tequila and fill the glass with crushed ice. Garnish with a couple of sprigs of cilantro.
