An unexpected combination of Champagne and rosewater syrup that is pleasing to the senses and a wonderful way to begin a meal.

INGREDIENTS

For the rosewater syrup:

  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon rose water

For the cocktail:

  • 1 bottle of sparkling wine, like prosecco or Champagne
  • ¼ cup rosewater syrup
  • Fresh rose petals, for garnish

DIRECTIONS

For the rosewater syrup:

Combine water and sugar in small saucepan. Bring to boil, then simmer until syrupy, about 5 minutes. Stir in rose water. Cool completely.

For the cocktail:

In a large pitcher, combine sparkling wine with rosewater syrup and gently mix. Serve in Champagne glasses and top with fresh rose petals.
