Scary Halloween Events With Beer

Pumpkin-Beer1It used to be that Halloween was a dead day for craft beer fans, since the first Night of the Living Ales in 2010 to nearly two digits of events in Portland this weekend. Here are our top picks.

Night of the Living Ales is returning this year after taking last year off and has added an extra DAY of the Living Ales which is a more laid back family friendly day event while "Night" is adults only. This years NOTLA tonight, October 31st has added the considerable entertainer talents of the Wanderlust Circus crew as well as a DJ, 3 costume contests, a full liquor bar and special craft beers. Beer Geeks can look forward to a special Chocolate Pumpkin pepper spiced beer from Burnside Brewing Co., an exclusive Bloody Orange fizzy wine from Hi-Wheel, Jamaican Me Pumpkin Rum barrel-aged beer from 10 Barrel, Poire from Pelican as well as more crushable Burnside Brewing Couch lager and more.

If you want to skip the costumes, the dancing and the circus you can come on Saturday November 1st 11am-6pm to DAY of the Living Ales for all the beers, ciders, pumpkin pie and kids activities like face painting and coloring contests.

Roscoe's in the Montavilla neighborhood is celebrating with a Halloween Summit on Friday 10/31 kicking off at 2pm. They will have a top of special beers and food specials.

Who could ignore the Horse Brass Pub's 38th anniversary on Saturday November 1st starting at 11am. They will have lots of special beers on tap including a brand new tribute beer from Ecliptic Brewing "Pegasus Extra Special Bitter" and "Don's Special Bitter" from Gigantic, Solera, Fort George and Lompoc.

NWIPA is having a party for Halloween and Dan's 46th birthday party and celebrating with an Evil Twin Brewin tap takeover at 730pm, food from Kim Jong Grillin and bands at 10pm.

Bazi Bierbrasserie has Kwaktoberfest hosted by Artisinal Imports from 5-10pm on Friday, October 31st. Kwaktoberfest features a tasting tray with Bosteels Brewery three famous beers: Kwak, Tripel Karmeliet and DeuS. 5 oz samples of each for only $15 including a souvenir Kwak glass while supplies last.

Caps n' taps halloween
Caps N' Taps in Camas, Washington is having a Halfiversary Party to celebrate 1.5 years of business. From 4pm-8pm Tim Ensign from Fort George will be there for a 19 beer takeover as well as raffling Fort George and Caps N' Taps gear all night. From 8-10:30 they have some classic rock and blues covers from Inner City Bluez playing.
Fort George Brewing in Astoria, Oregon is celebrating with their Hellorium block party.
