Sweet Pie In The City: Say Hello To Detroit's Sister Pie

Does tangy rhubarb make you salivate? What about golden flaky pie crust crystallized in sugar? Maybe you fancy a counter stacked high with vegan brownies, savory scones, and freshly made egg galettes? A small pie shop in Detroit has got what you need.

Sister Pie, anchoring what is soon to be a bustling corner in West Village Detroit, is known for its seasonal pies, small batch cookies, and creative use of locally sourced ingredients. In the warm summer months expect to stop in and find fresh fruit pies paired with uniquely flavored crusts like buttermilk rye or pistachio crumble. This Fourth of July those who craved some homemade deliciousness were able to pre-order and pick up a boozy bourbon cherry pie to share with friends over the holiday.

The small community seating inside lends to conversations with strangers over coffee and tea. You can eat and linger inside the shop but you can also grab your goods to go. If you want to pop in during the week around lunch time you can usually grab a "Sister Salad"; the ingredients are always a surprise but some past creations include sweet potatoes with arugula, radish, asparagus, quinoa, fresh mint, and its popular tahini poppy seed dressing.

The menu is always changing here but the care and deliciousness of each treat you try persists. It's a great local spot and worth the drive if you are from the surrounding suburbs. You can stop by Sister Pie Tuesday – Friday: 8am – 6pm and Saturday and Sunday: 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.
