Greenwich Street Tavern’s hearty lobster Benedict.

There’s many a high-end brunch to be found in New York City, and though it can be fun to don some of your Sunday best and enjoy a pricey meal in the middle of a leisurely day, there are some mornings when you’re just not up to it. Every now and then, you want to throw on some jeans, grab a few friends, and enjoy classic weekend morning staples in a relaxed atmosphere. For these instances, there’s Green Street Tavern.

Brunch is served from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays, and there’s really something for everyone on the menu. Highlights include their sautéed  lobster Benedict that’s served on an open-faced English muffin and topped with slices of ripe avocado; breakfast sliders that can be ordered in batches of 3 or singularly and comprise fried eggs, bacon, pepper Jack cheese, and smokey chipotle aioli on mini potato rolls; Fosters French toasts is sweet but hearty, topped with fresh banana and organic walnut maple syrup; and the salmon omelette actually containeds an unbroken, whole filet of fish, along with scallions, cream cheese, and a side of whole grain toast.

The specialty cocktails are balanced and refreshing, such as the Beach St. bellini made with prosecco, watermelon water, and fresh mint, and you’ll enjoy quite the late morning or early afternoon buzz from the espresso-tini that contains a whole shot of espresso, Stoli vanilla, and Kahlua.

GST is great for parties both large and small, and also for sports fans — you can keep track of your fantasy team while chatting with fellow New York sports enthusiasts. The staff is warm and competent, which all makes the restaurant and bar an ideal place to while away a few weekend hours and enjoy satisfying food and drink.
