This delicious authentic salad is a major staple in the Thai diet. Can be ready to eat in less than 20 minutes. This steak salad is bathed in toasted ground rice, ground dried chilies, fish sauce, fresh lime juice, shallots, and mint leaves.

Ingredients
  • 4 ounce beef skirt steak
  • 2 shallots
  • 1.5 ounce vegetable oil
  • 4 cherry tomatoes
  • 1 mint leaf
  • 4 stems of kale
  • 1 tablespoon ground dried thai chilies
  • 2 ounce ground toasted rice
  • 1 lime
  • 3 ounce nam tok sauce (sugar and fish sauce)
Directions
  1. 1.)Peel the shallots and finely slice them, slice the tomatoes and kale leaves (removed from the stems) and pluck a handful of mint leaves (and slice them if preferred). 2.) Heat the oil in a sauce or large pan over a medium heat. Add the beef and cook for 2-4 minutes on each side, until the beef is medium rare or medium (or well done as desired). Set the cooked beef aside for 2 -3 minutes, then thinly slice it. 3.)In a mixing bowl, add the sliced beef, toasted rice, ground chilies, shallots, mint leaves, kale and Nam Tok sauce. If desired, also add lime juice. Toss everything together. 4.) Plate and Garnish with the remaining mint leaves. 5.) Enjoy!
