Salsa recipes don’t have to be tomato-based. Try Alison Sweeney’s blueberry pineapple iteration for a refreshing and simple take on fruit salsa. This fresh fruit salsa uses a lot of the same ingredients as tomato-based salsas, with jalapeños, lime juice, cilantro, and onions — just substitute the tomatoes for fresh fruit.

Ingredients
  • 2 cup fresh blueberries
  • 1 cup finely diced fresh pineapple
  • 1 jalapeno, seeds and membrane removed, minced
  • 2 tablespoon tablespoons lime juice, divided
  • ½ teaspoon lime zest
  • 3 tablespoon chopped cilantro
  • ¼ cup diced red onion
  • kosher salt, as needed
Directions
  1. In a bowl, combine blueberries, pineapple, jalapeño, 2 tablespoons of the lime juice, lime zest, cilantro, and red onion. Season with salt and additional lime juice as needed.
  2. Serve with tortilla chips or as an accompaniment to fish or chicken.
