You Will Soon Be Able To Send Taco And Burrito Emoji

Have you ever really wanted to text your friend about your burrito craving, but bemoaned the fact that you had to type out an entire sentence to communicate your carnitas query? It may seem like a serious first-world problem, but there may soon be a solution. The Unicode Consortium (the lovely folks behind your Emoji keyboard) has released a list of possible future Emoji for the next update including a whole slew of popular foods like a hot dog, taco, and burrito. There's also a cheese wedge, turkey, popcorn, and a bottle with a popping cork.

Unfortunately, this means that we still don't have bagels, nachos, a Bloody Mary, or salad emoji (come on, Unicode, get on that). But it does make the emoji palate considerably more Westernized, amongst the numerous icons of rice and curry dishes from the Japanese-born cartoon emoticon service (that admittedly, often confuses American texters).

Plus, we imagine it would make the lives of those poor, unfortunate souls on an all-emoji diet much easier.
