Chipotle Is Not Your Favorite Casual Mexican Chain Anymore

Chipotle's burrito bowls are no longer numero uno. In a recent Consumer Reports survey, which rated America's best and worst foods, Chipotle got the number two spot in the Mexican food chain category. Apparently, the title of America's favorite Mexican chain belongs to Rubio's Fresh Mexican Grill, a regional Mexican chain known for its fish tacos. Rubio's, which you can find mostly on the West Coast, received a consumer ranking of 84, while Chipotle came in second with a score of 83.

The rankings were based on the opinions of 32,400 subscribers who ranked 65 restaurants during 96,000 dining experiences across the country. In the ranked list of favorite Mexican chains, Qdoba and Baja Fresh also received high rankings of an 80 or above, while Taco Bell came in last with a 73 ranking.

Rubio's, since you probably have never heard of it unless you are from California, is a fairly small chain in comparison to the Chipotle giant, which continues to increase their profit margins every financial quarter. If you find yourself at a Rubio's, we recommend ordering the classic fish tacos (hand-battered or grilled) or the seafood burritos. But there are also chicken and steak options on the menu.

The Daily Meal pulled together a similar list of America's Top 15 Tex-Mex Chains, but Rubio's didn't make our list, and Chipotle got our number one spot.
