These days, restaurants seem to come and go with surprising frequency, so there’s something to be said about being able to eat in a restaurant that has survived decades or even centuries. Dining in a restaurant that’s almost as old as the city it’s in and that was once frequented by Henri III, Napoleon, or Hemingway is something to write home about.

Restaurants like Rules Restaurant in London and La Tour d’Argent in Paris have not only literally stood the test of time, through wars and tough economic times, but they have also survived the modern opinions and tastes of diners. Even though some of these restaurants have had to move locations, they have still managed to preserve their original ambience and ensure exquisite culinary experiences.
