6 Delicious Alcoholic Milkshakes

Whether you call them "spiked" or "adult," these shakes are sure to be a favorite among the 21-plus crowd

Adding a splash of rum to your favorite chocolate-cherry shake, or maybe a shot of Kahlúa to a classic vanilla variety — don't even try to tell me you haven't thought about it before.

Aside from the not-so-subtle appeal of these frozen tasty "adult" milkshakes, there's the other obvious draw: easy preparation. Forget having to shake a drink vigorously, or needing to stir just so, most of these recipes simply require adding all of the ingredients to a blender and pressing the "on" button.

With spiked milkshakes gaining popularity at restaurants and coffee shops across the country, why not experiment with some original creations at home? Below are six favorites to get you started.

"Adult" Mudslide Milkshake

Everything you love about a delicious chocolate-vanilla milkshake but with the added bonus of Baileys' new Mudslide flavor.

Grandma's Treat

This popular spiked milkshake, on the menu at BLT Burger and two Go Burger locations (New York City and L.A.), features vanilla ice cream, caramel sauce, and bourbon.

Currant Obsession Shake

If you like Piña Coladas... you'll probably like this tropical spiked shake featuring muddled currants, rum, and coconut sorbet.

Crunch Cassidy Milkshake

Fans of salty-sweet flavor combinations will no doubt enjoy this boozy confection, which adds salted pretzels to a blend of bourbon, dulce de leche ice cream, and coffee ice cream.

Spiked Sunrise Shake

Inspired by the classic Tequila Sunrise cocktail, this shake substitutes blood orange sorbet for the traditional orange juice and adds in a scoop of coconut sorbet to give it a slightly more rich, creamy texture.

Santa Anna Shake

If you can't visit the Phoenix-based Texaz Grill to sample this fantastic "adult" milkshake, try making it yourself at home — the combination of Kahlúa, tequila, and vanilla ice cream is spot on.
