13 TIPS FOR BAKING A BETTER CAKE

There are many types of cakes and different ways to make them. You can find it on every occasion be it wedding, birthday or other celebrations. So if you are planning to bake a cake this Christmas or for any occasion follow these tips given below to bake a yummy cake.

To prevent nuts and fruit from sinking to the bottom of the cake, heat them in the oven first. Cherries should be washed and thoroughly dried in a clean cloth.

Never line tins with paper, except for fruit cakes, which bake for a very long time. paper makes cakes sweat
underneath.

Grease tins very well with soft, not melted, butter. Flour them and shake out surplus flour

After the cake is baked cool it for about 10 mins and only then remove it from the tin, it will come out clean and not stick.

Put the tins into the preheated oven and bake for the required length of time. Do not open the oven door until 5 or 10 mins before the cake is done, as this will cause it to fall.

Insert a clean toothpick or knife into the centre of the cake. If it comes out clean and dry, then it is done.

A good oven is very important. For certain success in cake making, the oven must be well-regulated. If your oven has no regulator, buy a thermometer and use it carefully.

Small crinkly paper cases can be used as well as well-greased patty tins for little cakes.

For those who are vegetarians, they can substitute eggs with curd. (1/2 cup curd for 2 eggs).

Assemble all the dry ingredients first before adding any wet ingredients, and don't overmix the dry ingredients.

Avoid putting too much sugar as it can cause a dark crust which is one of many possible causes for a dark crust and too little sugar can cause rough texture.

Don't fill the cake tin completely, don't fill more than 1/2 full.

Don't overbake a cake, overbaking will make it dry.
