Do you and your fiancée live for food? Ever wanted to do your wedding Josh Ozersky-style — catered by some of the country's best chefs — but do it legit? Ready to have your reception catered by some of the country's best restaurants?
For some, money is no issue. For others, it's a determiing factor. According to the results of TheKnot.com & WeddingChannel.com 2010 Real Weddings Study, the average couple spends a total of $26,984. "Just over 30% of their budget, on average, goes towards catering," noted Anja Winikka, senior editor for TheKnot.com. "If food is a major priority to a couple, one can imagine they would spend a decent amount of their budget on their number one priority. Whereas, let’s say, another couple’s priority is music and entertainment, then they would allocate more of their budget than the national average to the band."
So how much does it cost to have a restaurant catered wedding, and at some of the country's best restaurants?
Even restaurants that don't have offsite catering licenses often do buyouts. Some, like Radius in Boston, have set menus and winelists, and often include the restaurant's signature dishes. For instance, if you want your three to four-course reception menu to include the 2008 South Beach Wine & Food Festival award-winning Radius burger, you're in luck.
How much will the reception cost? Buyouts at Radius start at a minimum of $20,000 for food and beverage. "They may end up spending more depending on the number of guests," noted Stephanie Subocz. "For example, if someone has a 150 person event and chooses the $105 4 course menu, and spends $5,000 on beverages, they total food and beverage bill will be $20,750."
Special services are an additional fee at Radius. Clients make the final decision on all special services and are welcome to use their own vendors if they would like to.There are also additional fees added on top of that minium. In the case of Radius, a 7% tax, 5% management fee, and 16% gratuity added to the final bill.
Cakes. Radius Wedding cakes are additional, but other desserts are included. We do, but they are not traditional, frilly wedding cakes. Our cakes are contemporary in their design with or without fresh flowers.
That includes, valet parking, but not placecards, music, or floral arrangements.
