crack dip recipe
Maryse Chevriere

For me, this recipe is as D.C. as the Redskins. But even if the team doesn't make it to the Super Bowl, this dip is the perfect playoff accompaniment. It's so good, it's addictive — just like crack.

It uses Rotel (this isn't high-brow food obviously), but you can sauté some diced tomatoes with mild chopped jalapeños instead.

INGREDIENTS

  • ¾ pound of sweet Italian sausage (about 4 links)
  • One 10-ounce can of Rotel Diced Tomato & Green Chilies (mild)
  • 2 pinches of red pepper flakes
  • Two 15-ounce packages cream cheese, at room temperature
  • 1 cup sour cream

DIRECTIONS

Take the sausage meat out of the casings and sauté on medium heat, breaking up into small chunks. When cooked through, pour out the excess oil. Put back on the stove and add in the tomatoes and chilies and the red pepper flakes and cook for about another 5 minutes. Remove from heat.

Stir the sausage mix into the softened cream cheese. Then mix in the sour cream. Take a moment to prepare yourself.

Serve with tortilla chips, sliced baguette or thick ripple potato chips.
