Nothing like the sound of crunching leaves and pumpkin-flavored everything to ring in autumn. But, with a new season comes a new drink. Fig and bourbon is the perfect combination, and the perfect color scheme for sipping and admiring fall foliage.

INGREDIENTS

For the simple syrup:

  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 4 figs, diced

For the cocktail:

  • 1 1/2 ounces brown sugar-fig simple syrup
  • 2 ounces bourbon

DIRECTIONS

For the simple syrup:

Combine all of the ingredients in a saucepan over medium-low heat. Mash the figs as they soften, and stir until the sugar is dissolved. Remove from the heat and let cool before use.

For the cocktail:

Combine the ingredients with ice in a cocktail shaker. Shake until cold. Strain over ice in a whiskey glass.
