Who serves the best lunch in Orlando? It’s an age-old question, and one that deserves answers. After all, food can be one of the most memorable parts of a vacation. Make the most of your meals in Orlando by eating at the tastiest, most popular lunch spots the city has to offer. They’re sure to make your midday meal a good one!
Yellow Dog Eats
Order: Classic Yellow Dog Club, Strawberry Fields Salad, What the Fig Pulled Pork Sandwich
Yellow Dog Eats, with its kitschy atmosphere and unique menu, is more than just a sandwich shop. Locals and visitors alike travel from all over the city to sit down at this former general store for a quick bite to eat. Old-fashioned charm, like scribblings on the wall from patrons to old photos of neighborhood dogs, and an outside patio surrounded by a garden, make it an ideal Orlando lunch spot. The menu, centered on sandwiches, salads, and barbecue, all raise the bar on typical lunch fare too.
Park Plaza Gardens
Order: Fried Green Tomatoes, Crab Salad, Shrimp BLT, Lobster Knuckle Sandwich
Savor gourmet American meals at Park Plaza Gardens. Either the indoor garden or the bustling outdoor patio will be a hit with your party, as an abundance of flowers and live trees are found in every area of the restaurant, creating a romantic vibe any time of day. The traditional menu has been infused with a southern coastal theme. Southern specialties mixed with seafood selections allow for light meals perfect for when you’ll be on the move afterwards.
White Wolf Café
Order: Lobster Grilled Cheese, Florentine Flatbread, Galileo Salad
A little bit of everything is available at White Wolf Café, with a menu boasting a wide range of cuisines. From American to Middle Eastern flavors, dishes are just as eclectic as the café’s atmosphere. The lively ambiance is well suited for groups, and the outdoor sidewalk dining lets you enjoy the fresh Orlando air. Plus, it’s located in the Ivanhoe Antique District, so it’s an ideal place to stop after scouring stores for treasures. White Wolf Café is also an excellent option for brunch. (The mimosas are to die for!)
The Ravenous Pig
Order: Pub Burger, Veal Brisket Sandwich, Rock Shrimp Tacos
Gastropubs seem to be all the rage these days, but The Ravenous Pig stands out above the rest with inventive American cuisine and cocktails with a twist. (Yes, you can have a cocktail at lunch; you’re on vacation!) Reservations are recommended, but I think the atmosphere in the bar is great too. Seasonal ingredients means the restaurant’s menu changes monthly, but there are a few fan favorites that remain menu staples. The restaurant is just the right amount of trendy — think brick walls, Edison lights — and retains a casual vibe perfect for lunch. Service here is always exceptional, as the staff is very knowledgeable about the menu and drink selections.
Dexter’s of Thornton Park
Order: Jamaican Jerk Fish Tacos, Pete’s Italian sandwich, Pressed Duck Sandwich, Chipotle Lime Chicken Salad
With four locations in the Orlando area, it’s easy to dine at Dexter’s for lunch. However, the Thornton Park location, with an energetic downtown Orlando scene, is my favorite. Pull up a chair inside or on the outdoor patio, then browse the small put satisfying menu. (Don’t worry, the options may be small, but the portions aren’t). Contemporary American dishes are made with fresh, seasonal ingredients. Wine enthusiasts will love Dexter’s too, with an extensive list that makes it easy to pair the perfect glass with your meal. You can order from the main menu or the café menu, which is the preferred option when dining on the patio that lines the cobblestone streets of downtown.
There you have it! Dine at these restaurants and discover the best lunch in Orlando.
