W Hotels Opens First Alpine Ski Location

W Hotels announced the grand opening of the brand's first ever alpine ski retreat, W Verbier. Located in the Alps of Swizerland, the hotel is W's first in the country, and the 45th in the world. With "the spirit of Ibiza set on ice," the hotel is located at the base of the mountain in the Médran area of Verbier, conviniently located next to the mountain's main gondola. W Verbier is part of a multi-component luxury development project owned by the Swiss company Les Trois Rocs.

"Bringing the W brand to Verbier, one of the world's hottest ski resorts, marks a significant milestone in the global expansion of W Hotels into the world's most exciting destinations," said Paul James, global brand leader for W Hotels Worldwide, St. Regis, and The Luxury Collection. "At W Verbier, alpine enthusiasts and global jet-setters will experience the W brand's unique lifestyle programming and innovative design set against a jaw-dropping mountain backdrop."

The new W Verbier offeres 123 rooms, and is situated in four adjacent characteristic lodges. When they're not hitting the slopes, guests can experience amenities such as the W Café, W Living Room, Away Spa, and FIT (W's take on the traditional fitness center) as well as an indoor/outdoor pool deck.

The signature restaurant, Arola (which also has a locationa at Paris W hotel), is in collaboration with two-Michelin-star chef Sergi Arola. Here, chef Arola and executive head chef Torsten Sällström offer a "new twist on Swiss classics," blending Arola's renowned Spanish cuisine with Swiss flavors. The restaurant at W Verbier features a dining room and bar area, "Eat-Hola," which offers a daily-changing tapas menu and cocktails (and a spectacular view of the Alps).
