Foursquare Tips

  • Foodies flock to Shelter Island for crisp calamari salad and miso salmon in this simple space with high, beamed ceilings.
  • if you're gonna go for it you might as well go for it: The Double Chateau - a bottle of chateauneuf du pape and a chateaubriand steak for two. Bean and/or green salad to start
  • Bolognese!
  • Go here. This is my favorite restaurant on Shelter Island. Chef proprietors led the kitchen at Sunset Beach for a few seasons before starting VSC.
  • Chefs/Owners Lisa & Terry Harwood in 2002. Features daily "Plats du Jour," local seafood and produce, and desserts. Notable for the calamari salad and the famous Pineapple Tart Tatin.
  • get the filet mignon with a side of bok choi and mushrooms!
  • Food and bar scene. Can get a little crazy, but in a fun way
  • Everything is amazing.
  • Everything!
  • Sorry to say but totally mediocre and overpriced. They mean well but the pastas were mushy and the bolognese was nothing special. Not worth the $30 entree prices. Calamari was pretty good, though.
  • Calamari salad, duck confit, scallops, steak and Bolognese
  • Check out Vine Street Cafe as seen on Best Thing I Ever Ate
  • The Calamari Salad and Bolognese are the picks here. Everything is generally good though
  • get the bolognese
  • The best food on shelter island ....but it's NYC prices
  • Consider taking a half portion of the (amazing but huge) pasta, and explore the rest of menu too.
  • Perciatelli Ragu is seriously one of the best pasta dishes I've ever had.
  • A 5-minute ferry trip and you're there.
