LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — JLo, Nicki Minaj, Beyonce and Iggy Azalea – there’s one — big — common denominator. And we’re not talking about the music.
These women are making their butts front and center.
Voluptuous booties have become such a craze that the American Society of Plastic Surgeons reports 10,000 buttock augmentations were performed last year.
“But now, with all this fun technology going on, why go under the knife?” style expert and personal shopper Joe Katz said.
Brands are creating jeans that sculpt, shape and lift, even if customers don’t have much junk in the trunk.
Katz walked CBS2/KCAL9′s Suzanne Marques through Bloomingdales pointing out the brands women should look for: “They have everything from J Brand to Hudson to 1961.”
First, he pointed out where shoppers go wrong, beginning with avoiding longer back pockets.
“This pocket is too long here, so we want a shorter pocket and we want it to be up. And this seaming is straight across. I like seaming that curves,” Katz said.
Hudson Jeans have introduced a new “Reform” technology touting a 360-degree stretch paired with strong retention, so they keep their shape: “It’s this four-way stretch…it sculpts our butt up, then smooths out your hips and elongates your legs, so it’s a a really cool technology.”
Levi’s designed the “Revel” jean to shape, lift and lengthen.
“What they’re using is this liquid-shaping technology, so it’s fused into the denim and actually lifts, lengthens and shapes, so every girl’s gonna look great in their jeans,” according to style expert Rachel Zalis.
The stretch helps shape the jean in all the right places.
“You can literally look a size smaller without even stepping foot in the gym,” Zalis said.
Jeans 2 Love Makes the “U-Turn” jean and Hourglass Angel offer the Verox line.
With so many choices, women don’t necessarily have to break the bank to boost their derriere.
