Foursquare Tips

  • This casual spot is a great place to enjoy fresh seafood. Its first come, first serve - so breakfast is often to best time to drop by. As seen on Travel Channels The Layover with Anthony Bourdain.
  • Wow, the oysters on the half shell are great...they're #18 on 7x7's Big Eat SF 2010.
  • Kelly and Christy love the Dungeness Crab Louie and the incredibly fresh oysters that they order with a crisp Sauvignon Blanc. There is only bar seating and its hard to get a seat, so expect a line.
  • This San Fran landmark serves all its dishes cold (except for the rainy-day staple, clam chowder). Knock back oysters on your lunch break and chat up the cooks for secrets of the century-old spot.
  • Don't miss the fresh uni on ice!
  • Try the Boston Clam Chowder
  • My favorite stop before or after a flight to load up on Dungeness crab & oysters. A classic west coast oyster bar. -Ana Sortun, Top Chef
  • Love it love it ! Everything is amazing ! Must try !
  • Get the ultra fresh sea urchin. They serve it to you still moving! It's like the Foie of The Sea.
  • The smoked salmon--one of my very favorite foods--on very thinly sliced sourdough, was outstanding. So incredibly buttery, melt-in-your-mouth fantastic The best I've ever had--by a mile.
  • According to an unnamed source behind the marble counter, no one is the Mayor of Swan until they get busy with one of the staff!
  • Squeeze your way into the place and order... well... anything... as long as it includes a plate of oysters on the half shell. Wash down with a beer.
  • Ask if they've got fresh scallops! If so, get them done up with olive oil, capers and onions. Squeeze a little lemon on there (from the bowl on the counter), and enjoy!
  • this legendary Oystery in San Francisco deserves a chance. Shucks!
  • Few places have the longevity - or the popularity - of this tiny oyster bar. Even after more than 100 years, people still wait in line to get a seat at one of the 18 stools at the counter.
  • Specialties: Anything with crab; oysters on the half shell; Boston clam chowder; smoked salmon or trout; fresh seafood to take home.
  • Weekdays are the time to come
  • Get here early! Opens at 10:30am on Saturday and 5 folks in line at 9:45am!
  • The Sancimino brothers (six of them!) are always joking around behind the counter. Order cracked crab and a pint of Anchor Steam. More places to eat like a local: tandl.me/12ufz7c
  • Try the Sicillian Sashimi - Simple. Delicious.
