A slightly sweet and salty snack is the perfect thing to serve guests when they first arrive for a cocktail or dinner party. It whets their appetite, and makes them thirsty for a drink!
- ½ cup sugar
- 1½ teaspoon salt
- 2 teaspoons chili powder
- ¾ teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon cayenne
- 1 large egg white
- 2 cups nuts, preferably raw mix nuts or a mixture of almonds, cashews and pecans
Preheat oven to 300 degrees. Spray a nonstick baking sheet with cooking spray.
Mix all dry ingredients together in a medium bowl. Beat the egg white until runny, about 1-2 minutes. Toss in the nuts and evenly coat with the egg white. Add the dry ingredients to the nut and egg mixture.
Using your hands, evenly coat the nuts with the sugar/spice mixture. Transfer the nuts to the baking sheet.
Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until the nuts are browned. Let cool for five minutes. Transfer cooled nuts to cutting board and break apart as necessary.
