Foursquare Tips

  • FYI it's not Indian it is SRI LANKAN. WE HAVE OUR OWN ISLAND. thanks!
  • Order the Appas with eggs. Eat them with curry
  • Our favorite Sri Lankan place in Manhattan, and it's BYOB to boot.
  • Hoppers: bowl-shaped, crepe-like pancakes made from a fermented rice and coconut batter, giving them a slight sour tang, served both plain and with a gently cooked egg in the middle.
  • Boiled fish is hella good! )))especial for break fast
  • Absolutely delicious ! Prawn so good And yellow rice
  • Unbelievably Spicy Food that's delicious. Must also order the cashews (and butter rice) with whatever else you order...yum.
  • "Sigiri roasts its own black curry, a mixture of spices different from the cumin-coriander-garam masala combination familiar on Sixth Street." --James Traub
  • The food at Sigiri is delicious and bursting with flavor. The chicken lamprais and string hopper kothu in particular. Don't get the Sri Lankan spice level! Bring cash!
  • Definite value. The spicy here is SPICY, which almost never happens. Service is shit. Took them 45 minutes to take our order, but we didn't care that much because it's BYOB.
  • The black pork curry is so good. Meat feels like it has been braised, and the sauce is intensely flavorful. Medium spice level is enough to get the sinuses churning.
  • They have varying levels of spice, even their mild is fire hot. Ask the waiter for suggestions and he will steer you in the right direction. I loved the Sri Lankan vegetable soup to start.
  • The pork black curry with the fatty bits intact is delicious.
  • I love island cuisines! Go for the lamprais and black chicken curry. They run out of the lamprais pretty quick so run don't walk.
  • They do spicy, very spicy, and Sri Lankan spicy. Pro-tip: Don't get Sri Lankan spicy.
  • Cash only!
  • Tired of getting ripped off on crab at most restaurants? Get the crab curry here extra spicy and you'll get enough to feed 3 people, soaked in a delicious and dangerously spicy broth.
  • Try the Crab Curry - Incredibly juicy coconuty spicy. Sri Lankan done right.
  • Don't be a hater
  • Small servings. It's ok but too pricey.
