Shake Shack Philadelphia

2000 Sansom St
Philadelphia PA 19103
(215) 809-1742

Slowly, Danny Meyer's Shake Shack is changing the landscape of the burger world. It started in Madison Square Park in 2001, with a hot dog cart created by Meyer's Union Square Hospitality Group to support the Madison Square Park Conservancy's first art installation. Fans of the cart lined up for three summers until USHG won the bid to open a permanent park kiosk. Then the real fun (and lines) started. The "roadside burger joint" started serving incredibly juicy burgers on potato rolls and rich, thick, creamy custards with mix-ins (concretes), and the best Chicago-style hot dog outside the Windy City. It took until 2007 for the Shack to stay open through winter, but it's since become a New York institution — and spread beyond its borders, immediately ranking among those locales best burgers. Menu additions, mash-ups, and location-specific items have followed at newly launched Shacks in New York, Connecticut, Florida, D.C., Philadelphia, the Middle East, and now London. Location specific items at the Philadelphia Shake Shack include Center City Pretzel, Rittenhouse, and Liberty Shell concretes. — Arthur Bovino, 11/20/2012

For an authentic New York City Shake Shack experience, eat your meal in Rittenhouse Park.

Try the line! It's just as good as the line in Manhattan!

The people working the registers here are super friendly
Jeff K.
If you're eating inside, get your hot food and wait to get dessert. When you're ready, go to the C line for your cold items.

Burgers aren't anything you won't find elsewhere for a much better value. Shake Shack shines in the dairy department. Milkshake was definitely worth the $5. Go once, just to say ya did.

Glad I tried it, but I prefer bobby flay's in university city by far, or even five guys.

Must try the Shack Burger and the Black & White shake if you're lucky enough to have one in your city.

Good but not great....in a city full of awesome burgers (and other food) this one is far from the top....2 thumbs up for the shakes and service!
Julian K.
Every burger is great, but the Shake Shack's famous "Shack Sauce" will make it the best burger you have ever had!
Madhuri K.
Go off menu and ask for a chocolate + peanut butter milkshake!

The lines are out the door for a reason – this place has some of the city’s best burgers, shakes, and “concretes” (dense custard with mix-ins).
Lane R.
The shroom burger is spectacular, and not just for vegetarians
dennos
Over rated, meat is over cooked and lacks flavor
Jeremy T.
Burger is decent. Could be better. However these prices are dumb. 11 bucks. Hence this place is overrated (clap 5 time)
