San Francisco Restaurants: San Francisco's Best Restaurants

San Francisco restaurants are among some of the best restaurants in America, and many of these San Francisco restaurants have helped to make the city a formidable food town in the eyes of many food aficionados. Several San Francisco restaurants made it to The Daily Meal's 101 Best Restaurants in America list for 2014.

The Daily Meal put together a list of more than 150 restaurants to be considered for The Daily Meal's list of 101 Best Restaurants in America, and many of these were San Francisco restaurants. The list was compiled from past rankings, nominations from The Daily Meal team, and nominations from restaurant experts and critics across the country, both locally and nationally.

Of the best San Francisco restaurants to make the cut are Coi,  Michael Mina, Bar Tartine, Zuni Cafe, and State Bird Provisions, all listed in ascending order with State Bird Provisions ranking as the best San Francisco restaurant at number 18 overall.

Coi's many accolades include a two-star Michelin rating and the title of 58th best restaurant in the world according to San Pellegrino while Michael Mina's flagship restaurant in San Francisco's Financial District, Michael Mina (named as Esquire's Best Restaurant of 2011), gets the most praise for its Japanese and French-inspired take on the best American ingredients. Bar Tartine is known for its homey setting and its approachable yet modern fare.

At the top of the list are Zuni Café, which showcases San Francisco Mediterranean cooking at its best, and State Bird Provisions, which started off as a place to serve fried quail (California's state bird) to the masses ended up as one of the hottest restaurants of 2013, even snagging the James Beard Award for Best New Restaurant of the year.
