Foursquare Tips

  • Bring anyone you're dating here. If the person doesn't think it's awesome, stop dating that person.
  • Louie is the best person in the world
  • The brick oven pizza is the best in Carroll Gardens. I've been coming here for 28 years!
  • It's like eating in grandma's basement on Sundays, complete with the grouchy waiters. I love this place! Just don't expect to ever finish off a pizza on your own.
  • Not sure what all the hype is about. Pizza is meh - too thick cheese and not very flavorful. Love that it's an old school spot but not worth the calories!
  • Even if the pizza was no good, it'd still be worth a visit for the fantastic old-school decorstraight from a Scorcese movie. Luckily, the pizza's great, so dinner here is a must-do if you're nearby.
  • Best pie and red sauce date spot in Bklyn. Louie (Son of Sam) will take care of you
  • Louie loves the pie w/ garlic, sausage and mushroom, sometimes olives.
  • Pizza and pasta are good, but you can find their equal at other places in Bklyn. You cannot find gnocchi like this anywhere, though. Handmade. Pillowy. This is something special.
  • Love this place. Chicken Francese and Sauteed Escarole is excellent. 80 years in business and family owned.
  • Really, really, really good...falling off the bone. - Anthony Bourdain, host of No Reservations
  • The most perfect, classic Brooklyn spot. Walking through the door is like stepping through a time machine. Eat and be happy.
  • classic red sauce joint. staff is great, and there's a table in the back for big parties.
  • Amazing pizza, old school with fresh ingredients
  • Great old school pizza and red sauce joint.
  • Pizza is better than pasta. Great old school vibe.
  • The garlic and onion pie was amazeballs
  • One of the great pizza spots in Brooklyn. Some of the best veal I've ever had, thick cut and magnificently cooked. Don't be fooled by the plastic table cloths, this place is a classic and phenomenal.
  • Awesome pizza from an oven that's incredibly old and seasoned.
  • there is an old NY attitude, and a "no slices" policy,coal-fired brick oven pizza, chewy-yet-crispy crust and a nostalgia-inducing mix of sauce and melty cheese.
