Today on the Bite Tonight: Rosie O’Grady’s

Moving into the neighborhood in the place Malarkey’s used to occupy, is Rosie O’Grady’s. I really like Rosie O’Grady’s Irish pub because everything is made from scratch and never frozen. Their menu consists of award winning burgers, pizza and pasta, sandwiches, amped up appetizers, and traditional dishes including Fish and Chips, Shepard’s Pie and Cajun Chicken and Biscuits. With three locations in Michigan, Rosie O’Grady’s is becoming more and more popular. When Michelle was in town, Nastassia, her mom, Jen, and myself all decided to check out the menu. See how they ranked.

Atmosphere: 3.5 out of 5 bites

Price: 4 out of 5 bites

Quality/Taste: 4 out of 5 bites

Service: 3 out of 5 bites

Wow Factor: 3.5 out of 5 bites (menu and decor)

Since there was a special on select appetizers, we ordered a bunch to share.

Little League Chili: Texas style chili with black beans, shredded Cheddar, bacon, and sour cream. Hearty chili with a nice balance of spice. The sour cream added a creamy coolness and who doesn’t  love bacon? I don’t know why I never thought to add bacon to chili, but I will from now on.

Fried Pickle Spears: Deep fried pickle with sriracha ranch. I prefer a fried pickle chip, but this spear was on point. The breading was nice and crispy and adhered to the pickle with each bite. (One of my biggest pet peeves with fried pickle spears is that the breading comes off when you first take a bite). I’m not sure how the sriracha ranch was because our fried pickles were served with original ranch. The ranch was pretty tasty.

Jalapeno Cheese Balls: Breaded and deep fried, cream cheese, roasted jalapeños, ranch dressing. Perfectly golden brown. Delicious! Crunchy, spicy, creamy, fried goodness wrapped up in a bite size.

Garlic Parm Fries: Your choice of regular or sweet potatoes tossed in garlic Parmesan, served with ranch dressing. We went with regular fries. The garlic Parm seasoning was pretty good and wasn’t overpowering. The fries were perfectly cooked. The only downfall was that we thought we were getting the full order when our server brought us a side order.

Buffalo Chicken Flatbread Pizza: Ranch sauce, shredded chicken mix, Monterrey jack, topped with bacon bits. The ranch sauce was a nice break from the traditional tomato sauce and went well with the chicken. The saltiness from the real bacon bits with the spicy zip from the Buffalo sauce was delicious. The flatbread was the perfect thin crust with a slight chew.

Service could have been better, but the food was pretty good. The dining room is huge and the decor is very rustic with a fire place, brick walls, and even the random animal head on the wall. Rosie O’Grady’s offers something different for each day of the week: Trivia on Mondays, live music on Wednesdays, and even 20% off your bill on Saturdays if you work in the service industry. They also offer a Happy Hour Monday-Friday 3-6 P.M which includes 1/2 off appetizers and $1 off drinks. Rosie O’Grady’s is more than just an Irish pub, they really care about serving up home cooked meals. It’s a good place to go if you’re on your lunch break or if you want to celebrate a night out with friends. I will definitely be back to try the Cajun Chicken and Biscuits.
