Foursquare Tips

  • The only acceptable greasy hangover food spot in the hood. Hold out as long as you can to avoid all the hipsters. Everything's good!
  • try the espresso milkshake!
  • Vegetarian and vegan options
  • don't go here. the staff are the least fun-loving people I've ever seen at an ice cream shoppe. Do they take themselves this seriously? They work at an ice cream shoppe, not the State Department.
  • Eat a hot fudge sundae at the Fountain, open since 1918!
  • They sell trading cards from the '70s and '80s, still in the original wrappers, with the original (long stale) bubblegum.
  • Try the delicious gut-bomb called the "nebulous potato thing." Oh yeah, and add a milkshake.
  • You must have a chocolate malt. It's not optional.
  • Dont miss the classic black and white milkshake made with Mitchell's ice cream and homemade chocolate syrup.
  • Best huevos rancheros in SF
  • While the breakfast options are duly praised, the burger with avocado + jack is a hidden gem, and their fries are perfectly crisp and salty.
  • Sit at the bar, the booth seats are uncomfortably short.
  • Hangover food, good veggie options, and don't forget they have dinner! It's pretty cheap and there is beer too.The line on the weekends can get a bit crazy. Best looking American diner in SF. :)
  • Chicken Cilantro soup ftw. Pure comfort food.
  • The aptly titled Vegan Thingan impressive mound of potatoes, guacamole, vegan cheese, and salsacures hangovers better than an Alka-Seltzer. Plus, vegan milkshakes!
  • Get the 'vegan thing'. So good!
  • Check out their vegan options! Vegan sausage, tofu scramble with peanut sauce, pancakes, and milkshakes are all "yum!"
  • Go for the Chef's Mess. So much yum. Also, the Upside-Down Hog Cakes.
  • If you get something other than breakfast here, you're doing it wrong.
  • The paper straws for the shakes suck...no pun intended.
