Foursquare Tips

  • Hand crafted pastas! Arrabbiata and Tortelli Verde are both full of flavor and delicious! You feel hip just being there!
  • The must-order entre is a shatteringly crunchy skate-wing schnitzel; and the wok gets a warm welcome into the Italian kitchen, imparting toastiness to everything from chicken livers to strangozze.
  • The ragu is deceptively big. Pictures don't do it justice. It will feed at least 3-4 people. Makes for delicious leftovers though!
  • The real play here is to build a DIY tasting of strange and familiar shapes and strands, culminating in the ragu alla Napoletana, soppressata meatballs, sausage and pork shank over fusilli!
  • The pastas are the stars, such as cannelloni saltimbocca with merguez, manchego cheese, peas, harissa, and balsamico, many of which are made on a small demonstration stage of sorts behind the bar.
  • There is something lurid and Vegas-like about the two women making pasta on an elevated stage behind the bar at Monteverde, the Italian restaurant in Chicago's West Loop.
  • Incredible Italian fine dining. Everything about it from the vibe, interiors, aesthetics, staff, wine, and esp the food was flawless. Come here on a Sat night at 8pm and you'll experience what I felt.
  • Fresh, handmade pastas were fantastic.
  • Loved the spring vegetable salad. Pastas were flawless. Service was great.
  • Former Spiaggia chef Sarah Grueneberg spins her personal expression of Italian cuisine in sleek space with a show kitchen behind the bar on a less saturated stretch of the West Loop
  • V nice cocktails and v nicely seasoned food, highly recommend
  • This place was unbelievable. Get the skate. Try a pasta. Go for everything.
  • Everything was fantastic! Party of 13 on a Friday night & service was flawless. We selected menu two days prior to our visit. Personalized menus were printed & set at each place setting. A++++
  • Cacio whey pepe is on point
  • The pasta are made in-house and absolutely delicious. I was here for restaurant week, and both pasta and antipasto dish were awesome. Excellent customer service ... And wine
  • PureWow: Homemade pasta is the name of the game. The restaurant churns out classic Italian dishes and a few with a modern twist. (The wok-fried arrabbiatta definitely falls into the latter camp.)
  • Top Chef alum Sarah Gruenebergs new restaurant, Monteverde, offers a modern take on authentic Italian cuisine.
