Foursquare Tips

  • Best Arepas in the USA
  • Head to Caracas and order "La del Gato". Mmm...
  • The waiters are not friendly at all! :(
  • Their best meal is in the name. Arepas, grilled cornmeal cakes stuffed with anything from cheese to plantains, satisfies any rowdy appetite.
  • All I have to say is: De Pabellon.
  • Douse whatever you get in the secret yellow sauce at your table. Seriously. DOUSE. ON WHATEVER.
  • The consensus here is to order De Pabellon, and we whole heartedly agree. Shredded beef, black beans, and cheese stuffed into a pocket bun. You'll want to come back after eating here.
  • Absolute must try for arepas! Very cozy inside with tight and limited seating.
  • get the michelada drink. best beer cocktail ever. spicy and sweet. mostly just delicious and problem-obscuring
  • The 3 arepas to get: de pabellon (shreeded beef, sweet plantains, white cheese), la surena (chicken, chorizo, avocado), and la de pernil (roast pork shoulder, jalepenos, fried sweet plantains).
  • Order Tequenos to start and the De Pabellon arepa
  • A neighborhood favorite for spicy, saucy Venezuelan sandwiches. Gets cramped and noisy during peak hours.
  • This tiny eatery may be known for its ridiculously long lines, but the hearty homemade food is worth the wait. Each item is cooked to perfectionevery time. It's always difficult to choose fillings!
  • Get the del Gato. One if you're hungry, two if you're starving, three if you're crazy.
  • Try the La Surea Arepa
  • Yo-Yos are some of the best things I have ever had. I've never had arepas like absolute must have.
  • The zesty vegetarian La Jardinera is recommended. Also the chorizo-filled Los Muchachos. Skip La Playera (fish arepa)--too bland.
  • Get la del gato and add shredded beef. Amazing blend of flavors.
  • Christina Tosi of Momofuku Milk Bar recommends the a de pabellon arepa.
  • arepas at caracas are great
