Pet Blog: Dogs On Parade In Minneapolis!

If you see an enormous pack of dogs roaming Hennepin Avenue in Minneapolis Friday night, have no fear. We have not begun descent into a post-apocalyptic, Cormac McCarthy-like reality.

It's just a good ol' fashioned doggy parade, y'all!

The Northeast Dog Parade is a chance for pooches to get the fanfare they deserve. And their humans will get the chance to win fabulous prizes and gift baskets, as well as hobnob with fellow like-minded cool people.

The fun kicks off with a "Blessing of the Dogs" at 6 p.m. at Chute Park near the Ard Godfrey House.

The parade starts at 6:15 p.m. and heads down Hennepin Avenue, finishing near the riverfront.

The event is put on by the NorthEast River District, and sponsored by several local businesses. It's just one of the many "I Heart NE" events in the area, including the Dandelion Day Celebration, Northern Sparks Art Festival and the NE Pedal Pub Races, just to name a few.

Chute Park is located at 28 University Ave. SE. near Central Avenue.

Let the good dogs roam!
